Deputy: Meta seems happy with extremist status in Russia

MOSCOW, Aug 18 (PRIME) -- Meta, whose activities are banned in Russia as extremist, seems to be satisfied with this status, and unblocking of its social network Instagram, also found as extremist, will be possible only after fulfilment of the country’s requirements, deputy Anton Gorelkin said on Thursday on Telegram.

“Meta seems to be happy with the status of an extremist institution – it is impossible to change it without active moves by the company. This is why the process of adaptation of business to new realities of work in the social networks is unavoidable. Besides, when Meta meets our terms, and Instagram will be unblocked,” Gorelkin said.

The deputy added that it is still unknown whether the previous mechanisms of promotion will work after Instagram was unmuted, but in the current realities the users should develop advertising accounts and infrastructure of the Russian social networks.
